The Synergy of Sleep and Other Unlocked Potentials
The quarterly "Synergy Summit" was, as always, a masterclass in corporate platitudes delivered with alarming sincerity. Eleanor, positioned strategically near the emergency exit and a lukewarm coffee dispenser, was contemplating the merits of feigning a sudden allergy to buzzwords.
Brenda, from HR, bounced to the front, beaming. "Alright team, who's ready to unlock their full potential and synergize for unparalleled growth?!"
A smattering of polite, unconvincing applause followed. Eleanor, without shifting her gaze from a particularly stubborn smudge on her coffee cup, murmured, "I believe my potential has mostly unlocked itself into the realization that I'm overdue for a nap."
A young intern nearby stifled a snicker. Brenda, unfazed, launched into a PowerPoint slide featuring a graphic of interlocking gears. "Remember, folks, teamwork makes the dream work!"
Eleanor took a sip of her coffee, grimacing slightly. "Indeed. Though, sometimes, teamwork just means more people are aware of the nightmare."
The intern audibly choked on his croissant. Eleanor offered him a small, almost imperceptible nod of solidarity. The summit continued, oblivious to the quiet rebellion brewing in the back row, one perfectly deadpan observation at a time.
